Indigenous Education
In Pembina Trails, we recognize that student education is strengthened by engaging with Indigenous learners, knowledge and history. We believe that as Canadians we are all Treaty people, and through the Calls to Action for the Truth and Reconciliation we have the opportunity to help Canada achieve its full potential.
Our Indigenous Student Success teachers assist in gathering family and student voices to assist the division and our schools in navigating the needs of Indigenous youth. We promote cultural events and gatherings within the community. Our goal is to continue building and strengthening relationships with the community.
Incorporate recommendations from the Mamàhtawisiwin framework with the four pillars:

- Understanding of World Views, Values, Identities, Traditions, and Contemporary Lifestyles
- Inclusive and Culturally Safe Learning Environment
INDIGENOUS STUDENT SUCCESS TEACHERS
Pembina Trails has four Indigenous Student Success teachers on staff. The team offers a variety of professional development opportunities for staff. Staff can also request a time to collaborate with the team to incorporate an Indigenous lens into their lesson plans.
