Commit to Kids Resources for Parents and Guardians

Pembina Trails School Division has been an advocate for child safety for many years. Our partnership with The Canadian Center for Child Protection (CCCP), has provided staff with ongoing education in the area of child safety through online programming and training resources such as Kids in the Know and Commit to Kids.

Recently, the Minister of Education mandated the Respect in Sport, for coaches/supervisors, and the Respect in Schools or Commit to Kids training for all staff in the Education sector. To date, over 3000 Pembina Trails staff have completed the mandatory Commit to Kids training that has become a condition of employment in the Pembina Trails School Division.

The Canadian Center for Child Protection (CCCP) offers a variety of free resources for parents, guardians, and community members that are interested in learning more on how to keep children and youth safe.

Designed for adults who work with children, this 23 minute video is intended to support protective adults by increasing their understanding of the issue of child sexual abuse, the disclosure of sexual abuse and supporting children through a disclosure. Canada’s national tipline for reporting the online sexual exploitation of children.		Designed for use with children in Kindergarten to Grade 4, these videos address safe vs unsafe secrets, instincts - identifying and responding to unsafe situations, and online safety. A website with information for parents/guardians about the ever-changing online interests of young people, the potential risks they face and proactive strategies to help keep them safe while online.		A section on the Canadian Centre for Child Protection’s website with resources and information to help families and schools keep kids safe.		NeedHelpNow.ca helps teens stop the spread of sexual pictures or videos and provides support along the way.
