Music

Music is an important part of the development of the whole child. At Whyte Ridge, we are committed to providing creative musical experiences for every child. Through the Orff process, our students enjoy singing, movement, instrumental playing, and listening activities.

All of our children play the Orff barred instruments and hand drums from kindergarten through grade 4. Recorder is introduced in grade 3 and throughout the years, the children play many pitched and non-pitched percussion instruments all the while broadening their musical abilities.

In addition to regular class instruction by our Music Specialist there are numerous co-curricular opportunities offered throughout the year including Choir, Recorder, Orff and Jazz Clubs, just to name a few. Our students host musical presentations such as the Remembrance Day assembly, Christmas concerts and a Year-End grade 4 Farewell. Our choirs also perform in a number of festivals and concerts outside the school. We are proud of our choirs that have received many accolades and awards for their performances.
