Music
The École Crane music program provides rich musical experiences for every child. Students explore music aurally, visually, and kinesthetically through movement and dance. Strongly rooted in Orff methodology, the music program fosters creativity while focusing on musical literacy, cultural musical appreciation, musical mindfulness, and the development of musical skills through singing and playing instruments. Performance opportunities are provided for our students at our annual Winter Concert, at school assemblies, and a variety of special events throughout the year.
Learning musical skills in a French Immersion environment allows students to enrich their language skills through the repetition of rhythmic speech patterns while speaking, singing, listening, reading, and instrument playing.
Kindergarten students receive two thirty-minute periods of music each cycle. Grade One, Two, and Three students receive three thirty-minute periods each cycle while the Grade Four students receive four thirty-minute periods per cycle with a focus on choir and recorder playing.
